18 Jan DFCRC announces the resignation of CEO Andreas Furche

Neville Stevens AO, Chair of the Digital Finance Cooperative Research Centre today announced the centres founding CEO Dr Andreas Furche would be stepping down from the role of CEO of the Digital Finance CRC at the end of March.
In announcing his decision Andreas referred to the strong progress that has been made already in the early phase of the CRC’s 10 year lifespan, and the upcoming work on high impact topics.
Dr Furche said, “From inception to bid to establishment I have now given four years full commitment to developing the Digital Finance CRC. Now is the time to hand the operational management of the organisation to the next generation. It will allow me to reduce work time while spending more time with several generations of my family.
“I have been involved in the topic of digital finance for 30 years and it’s an area that I am passionate about. I look forward to continuing to assist the centre and its high impact initiatives. We have built an exceptional team and partner group with the true potential to make a significant national and global contribution.”.
DFCRC Chair, Neville Stevens paid tribute to the outstanding contribution made by Andreas. He said “Andreas has been the driving force behind developing the bid for the DFCRC and in outlining the vision for how the CRC can position Australia as a global leader in digital finance.”.
Under his leadership the DFCRC has developed an effective commercialization strategy tied to a groundbreaking research model. Already major research work has been undertaken in partnership with the Reserve Bank of Australia on a Central Bank Digital Currency for Australia an area that Andreas has unrivalled expertise.”.
“Most importantly Andreas has assembled an outstanding group of senior executives to continue to realise the vision for Australia in the digital finance age and to undertake high impact projects.
“I am pleased that Andreas has indicated his willingness to continue to be involved in some of these high impact projects underway within the CRC so his experience and expertise is not lost to the centre.”.
Over the coming weeks the Board will commence a process to appoint a new CEO.
