The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) and the Digital Finance Cooperative Research Centre (DFCRC) have released a report on the findings from the joint research project involving industry that explored potential use cases for a central bank digital currency (CBDC) in Australia.
The Australian CBDC Pilot Conference is an important element of the Pilot Project’s engagement with industry. Pilot participants will showcase their use case solutions and panel sessions with industry leads will explore the potential leverage of CBDC in a tokenised economy.
This conference is a collaboration between industry and pilot participants. This is an invite only event.
The key objectives of the project are to identify and understand innovative business models, use cases, benefits, risks, and operational models for a CBDC in Australia. It is expected that industry participants will benefit from testing business models and use cases for CBDC, potentially involving their clients.
A report on the findings, including an assessment of the various use cases developed, will be published at the conclusion of the project. These findings will contribute to ongoing research into the desirability and feasibility of a CBDC in Australia.
