Greg Medcraft

Greg Medcraft is an independent non-executive Director of Australian Finance Group (AFG), a leading listed financial services group in Australia, non-executive Director of London-based industry group Global Digital Finance Ltd, Advisory Board Member of Washington based fintech Infraclear Inc. and a non-executive Director of Washington-based think tank the Salzburg Global Seminar Inc.

 

He was  Director of the Directorate for Financial and Enterprise Affairs of the OECD from November 2017 until July 2021. The Directorate contributes to the OECD’s  policy and standard-setting work in the fields of markets and business conduct, including digital and sustainable finance.

 

Greg has extensive experience working on financial markets and services issues, both from a policy and industry perspective.

 

From 2009 to 2017, he was initially a Commissioner and later the Chairman of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), Australia’s corporate, markets, financial services, and credit regulator. While ASIC Chairman, Mr. Medcraft was also – for three years until May 2016 – Chair of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) Board and a member of the Financial Stability Board.

 

The first part of his career was spent in the private sector (30 years), with accounting firm KPMG then Société Générale in Australia, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, and then as CEO of the industry group, the Australian Securitisation Forum. At Société Générale, he initially worked on corporate finance, then capital markets. When he was based in New York, Greg co-founded the industry group, the American Securitization Forum, and was its Chairman for a number of years.

 

Mr. Medcraft, an Australian national, holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne and is a qualified Chartered Accountant and member of the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
